Agree yes it's wrong but we can't control what other people do, if they want to do stupid things we can't change that, focus on yourself and bubs or treatment for ivf and don't worry about anyone else.it's her stupid decision.not worth worrying about some decision that's already been made and taken place.

Like I said, I never had the chance to express my opinion - and even though some may disagree, I am entitled to one.

PP I get that addiction is different for everyone, and I never ever said `I can do, so she should be able to'

Smoking when you are pregnant is just wrong - no matter who you are!

Whereas I think, if she was smoking a pack a day, didn't care and didn't even try to quit, that would be different. But she kept it a secret from her husband, snuck around and had 5 a week, she obviously felt lousy and does care. I've said before, I know 40+ a day smokers, who cut down to one a day. You may see that as a failure, I think it was a huge effort and at least they were really trying and really cared I quit when I was pregnant, but it doesn't mean I think I am somehow better than those who didn't or couldn't. It certainly doesn't make me angry.

I'm angry because I gave up for both my pregnancies, it was so hard and every day I craved and craved...but I did not give in because I could not. So I know how hard it is to stop smoking and stay stopped - but Chrissie continued to make a choice every time she put a cigarette in her mouth and lit it up. I can't even comprehend the fact that she smoked in her car.....the very same car her other two children would travel in!!!!

What she did was wrong, but the constant explaining and excuse making by her and others - almost seems to condone her behaviour.

I know my opinion will not be popular and yes I have read the recently posted thread by a journalist from The Age newspaper....but I'm angry.
I agree I don't care who she is ...It was wrong .....

Eh I really don't care. She cut down and she knew it was wrong but had different will power to you. She did a lot better than some women I know who didnt even try to cut down or quit.

It's a poor choice and a poor decision when we all know that it's harmful to babies, but really, crucifying her is not the answer either. I feel for her, but it does upset me when there are people who do the right thing during pregnancy and have babies with issues or high risk pregnancies, when smoking is a deliberate act that can harm your child. Every effort must be made to educate women and help them kick any harmful substances for the benefit of their own health and that of their babies.

i think she did an amazing job to get down to so few in a week. that deserves praise. so what if others manage to stop while pregnant. she couldnt so she did the best she could. So will anyone have a go at the poor mum who lost her baby recently due to eating a cheese that is not safe and the baby dying from listeria....i doubt it. and neither should they. if 5 smokes a week is the worst she does she is doing well in my book.

    Totally agree!
