    Hi, I’m Britta.

I’m doing my PhD in Brisbane, with the help of Christina Lee (my supervisor).

I’m interested in how women use pregnancy forums for information and support. In particular, I am focusing on pregnant women who smoke, and whether they use pregnancy forums to discuss questions or issues about smoking.

I am looking for women who...
    o are currently pregnant
    or
o were pregnant in the last 12 months

… and smoked while they were (are) pregnant

If this describes you, please follow this link to share your experience with us via an online survey. When you click the link it will direct you to a separate secure website to do the survey.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me (b.wigginton@uq.edu.au) I am more than happy to answer any questions.

The survey will take around 15 minutes to complete. There are lots of opportunities to tell us about your experience of using pregnancy forums.

    Important information:
    · Your responses will be anonymous
    · You won’t be asked to share any identifying or personal information
    · Your participation is voluntary
    · You are free to stop the survey and leave the site at any time.

This survey is part of my PhD research at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia and is under supervision by Professor Christina Lee. This survey has received Ethics approval (13-PSYCH-PHD-18-JJ).

    Thank you for your help!

    Cheers,
    Britta

I tried to quit during my first pregnancy but for reasons I won't go into I took it back up but cut down to 3 a day. Second pregnancy I did the same and just cut down, both of those times I suffered tremendous guilt. Then after I lost 3 babies I went through a major health and lifestyle overhaul which had me quit smoking and I haven't touched one for 19 months and that included my last pregnancy.

Definitely not, I even held my breath when I walked past smokers! There's enough toxicity in our lives without breathing that in

Also on my phone. Technically I did with my first, I quit the day I found out I was pregnant and have never touched them again (although I got cravings a few months after she was born. I didn't want her to see me smoke though, so I stayed on the wagon).

No, but I ate a lot of junk and my mental health was suspect. No one is perfect.
