Default Cost of Ovidrel 250 trigger shot? Did it work for you?

    Hi,

my story in short. I was dx with Hashimoto's hypothyroidism 6 months ago and have been TTC for 17 months and currently on thyroxine treatment and trying to adjust to correct levels (still not optimal at the moment).

My FS has told me on monday that if we have another BFN this month then our next plan of attack is Ovidrel 250 trigger shot when ultrasound shows mature follicle, which will help us with timing of Ovulation and BDing. I ovulate naturally each month so that is not really the issue, it is more or less that I O between CD13 - CD18 and no real pattern, but FS seems to think that maybe we will be able to increase our chances if we can tell exact time of ovulation after trigger shot (should be within 36 hours after injection). If no BFN after we tried this for 6 cycles DH and I will investigate further if Hashimotos is still the culprit and see if a Naturopath can help, and if all this fails we will then move onto IVF.

When I was with FS in the office I told him I was expecting to O in 1-2 days and he did quick Ultrasound and mature follicle was ready. OPK was positive that day (felt O twitching in the evening), then OPK was negative yesterday, and now I'm not sure if I actually O'd or not because I couldnt really detect a BBT rise this morning, so we will continue to try to catch that eggo today and the next few days.

Have any of you used Ovidrell or Pregnyl trigger shot and can you give me an indicate of the cost of this trigger shot? And did this work for you

    thanks

I had ovidrell trigger shot 4 days ago. It cost me $68 I think and is not covered by the pbs scheme but some health funds give you something back. The trigger shot I had before christmas failed to make me ovulate. It was in the middle of a pretty messed up and long cycle so that could have been why. The nurses where I go also said that it not working is extremely rare and that it should work this time. They have barely had anyone where its hasn't worked. I think it can also help a pregnancy get off to a good start as you are boosting the hormones etc. I think it could be worth a try.

Ovidrel also gives a final quality boast to the follicle aswell as triggers o. Every cycle I've used ovidrel I fell pg (1st blighted ovum, 2nd DS & 3rd due 31/11/13). All 3 iui cycles I didn't use Ovidrel were BFN. So for me I think it really helped.

Sorry I can't help with cost as it was included in the iui price.

I took 250g of ovidrel 8 days ago. Got the blood test to check progesterone to check ovulation. Temps are staying up though so pretty sure that's a positive indication :-) it cost me 70 something dollars. I just did a test to see if it is out of my system yet. It was a v v faint second line so I think it is almost gone, which means test day will be reliable
