My little guys LOOOOOVE the emergency vehicles you get from Kmart. They have lights and sounds and are only around $15. We have the fire engine (that actually has a tank you can fill and shoot water from the hose), the police car, the helicopter and the tow truck. They have been massive hits.

They are listed as the 'lights and sound team rescue'

    Trampoline 100%

I thought he'd be too young when I got it (he was 1!) but hardly a day goes by we're not in it - he/we love it!

Other than big ticket items that they all enjoy (trampoline etc), my DS2 has just turned 3 and we got him some of the Dinosaur Train Interactive toys, he ADORES them, and they're pretty cheap too at $22-$28 for the small ones and $48 for the huge ones. He loves making them all talk to each other (and he's learning cool Dino facts at the same time!)

Ditto on the trampoline! Sandpit is another good one. And my DD loves her car/road carpet/playmat-thingy (you know what I'm talking about) - she loves driving her Matchbox cars all over it. She also loves her play tea set, her cash register and toy food.

FWIW - If you decide to get a trampoline, it's definitely worth paying a bit extra to get one with a higher load-bearing capacity (ie one that can take around 120kgs) - means a grown-up can jump on it at the same time. My DD loves it when Daddy climbs in and bounces her around.

The best thing I've brought either of my boys is a car mat and matchbox cars. Hours and hours of fun every day.

My DS is 2 and loves his Dinosaur Train interactive dinosaurs, Chuggington trains and tracks, sandpit, and cars and car mat. DS will be getting a trampoline with his 3rd birthday.
