Default Navy would have role in turning asylum boats around under LNP.

It may be illegal but who will be prosecuting? No one

It happened prior to current labour gov. My dad is in the navy.....

They stop them before they come into Aussie waters.

And the labor government changed the rules, so now we give them an escort to Australia...

It's getting more dangerous every day to be either a) part of border protection, or b) an asylum seeker choosing boats. There have also been cases with the new scheme of sending the asylum seekers to another country where they have turned it down and gone back to their country of origin. What does this say about the people that are trying to get to aus?

Depends. If they are being sent to countries that are not signatories to the convention, like Indonesia, I can understand that.

Or countries that are just as dangerous for them (such as Malaysia) because whatever group were persecuting them has a large population in that country as well.

It's all been just recently that things have gotten dangerous. Since Julia gillard said they were going to do off shore processing. Which means they aren't supposed to come to aus at all. A fair few of them just want to come here because of what they can get off our government, and when they find out they may not make it to Australia at all (even just the detention centres) they decide that they can deal with living in their own house
