Sorry I should have said I went private which is why I booked so early.

I just called my Ob (I'm 4+2) and they only took me on because I'm a returning patient. I can't believe how quickly some book up! It's crazy.

    Default Booking into ob?

If you are seeing a private ob then generally they see you for the first time at 8 or 9 weeks.

Depending on your area many obs fill up quickly so you do need to book ASAP.

I got my referral both pregnancies for my ob when I went to the GP to confirm my pregnancy with a BT at around 4/5 weeks. I then called and made an appointment with my ob of choice.

Out of curiosity, are you going private or public?

    Default Booking into ob?

When I saw my gp at five weeks he referred me straight away to my ob and I couldn't get in until I was 14 or so weeks.

Oh edit: glad you got the ob you wanted

This may be a silly question, but is seeing an ob the same as going to an antenatal clinic? I have asked the gp but he said he wouldnt refer me until around 18 weeks. I am currently 19 weeks and no referral just yet. I am public not private. Is this common not to be referred until then? Or could he be classing me as 'high risk'? My last pregnancy was high risk, but this one has gone smoothly.

I made an appointment the day I got my bfp. I've heard if you try and book with my OB after 7 weeks your too late.

    Great news and congrats

Out of interest, has your OB said they will send a referral for the nt scan? It seems unusual if you're going private that you won't see them until 13wks. You will need your first scan before this date.

My gp is sending me for the nt scan at 12 weeks. I've just gotta take the results to the ob as well as blood test results etc on my first visit and she'll take the rest from there.
