Default Re: Do You Celebrate Your Birthday?

Not really. I get a happy birthday from dp, my brother, dad and aunty but that's about it. My brother puts more effort in, but that's just how he is.

My birthday is in a few weeks so I might drop some 'subtle' hints to ds1 for a card and also ds2's daycare ladies, something made by them is always welcome.

    Happy Birthday for tomorrow OP!

I celebrated all my birthdays until I was 22.

Then I met DP and he and his family don't do that. The most you get is a cake and a "Happy Birthday," FB message. So I just haven't done it - he hasn't been interested, and actually gets annoyed when we try to celebrate HIS birthday...

But THIS year, I'm doing something. I don't need to not celebrate just because he doesn't (he's never stopped me, I just felt like I couldn't since he didn't do his)... so I'm at least doing SOMETHING.

I doubt I'll get a present from him but that's fine because I'll just buy myself a fantastic new dress.

In fact, I might go and choose that dress right now...

We're big kids at heart and love birthdays in this house. Usually have a little trip away, dinner with the parents, presents. DH always makes a fuss of me, and I of him.

It really makes me sad that some of you get neglected this way. Everyone deserves their special day.

Don't really celebrate adult birthdays. I'm just a bit meh about "Yay, I didn't die this past year."
Once you get older then that's a big deal, so birthdays from about 80/85/90 upwards are worth celebrating. When you're a child it's also a big deal, especially as so many things depend upon age when you're young. But I just don't get the excitement for adult birthdays.

    Happy Birthday lese82!

Sorry you're off to a rough start

We always do something for birthdays in our house. I don't tend to make a big deal of mine unless it's a milestone birthday though. I've had big parties for my 21st, 25th and 30th.

These days I'm just content to go out to dinner with my family.

DH and I always buy eachother birthday presents. We both love presents so it's a must
