My DS uses an ipad at school. We don't purchase them though. He said they get free time and have to do school work on them. I quizzed him a bit and i think they must have done literacy programs/games.

Very popular in high schools now but I've never heard of the students having to buy them. Usually if the school can't the money comes from the p&c.

By the time they're in high school iPads will be obsolete and no doubt replaced by something amazing.

And while we all know what kids cost the point you raise to plan ahead, well that applies to everyone, low, middle or high income earners but it just seems to me that a majority of the handouts paid to lower income earners and the more they get the less incentive there is for them to better their situation by getting a job or a higher paying one etc, why would one remove themselves from the welfare system when receiving school bonuses, ccr, ccb, tax a and b payments, rent assistance, health care card and the list goes on.
Great post I think you have very valid points

I'd rather see the money being used on our children than any number of the stupid things governments like spending money on. But that is just me, health and education are always top priority for me.

As to why the wealthy should pay for children's school supplies. Not saying they should pay for kids school stuff - but they should definitely pay higher taxes than lower income earners. That is just common sense.

Default Abbott to axe school bonus if he gets in

Why on earth do 'some wealthy' think its 'their tax dollars' that are funding this. The funds come from I guess a tax pool that EVERYBODY contributes to in some shape or form, the mentality erks me to tears. I have no problem with any of my tax bucks helping out low income families.

Very true, and as I said earlier in the thread, my DH's tax dollars go to rebates for PHI for others which we can't afford, PPL which I probably won't use and first home buyers that we have never applied for bc we don't earn enough to even go for a loan. But that's how the system works. We throw into the pool and people of all walks of life, including wealthy and poor, take from it. I could care less.
