I wouldn't buy second hand underwear... but I have used it with hand me downs.
most of the second hand stuff I've got needs slight repairs, or have only been washed and not used. there's varying degrees of grey with the nappies. there's ways of getting good quality new nappies at a discount price.

Default Buying Second Hand Cloth Nappies Is Like Buying Second Hand Underwear

    I haven't bought 2nd hand mcn's but I would. I wouldn't buy 2nd hand undies.

The difference for me is that babies and children are 'pure'. I would be disgusted if an adult peed on me but if a baby does it during a nappy change I just laugh.

For some reason a babies bodily functions don't have that grotty element for me?

I wouldn't buy second hand nappies or underwear or any other type of clothing. I cant stand the thought of other peoples fluids being on them. Eww!

Yes, I did try to make my OP as clear as possible. Its a 2 part question for those that buy second hand cloth nappies.

ETA: Though on closer inspection I can see how my first questions is kind of aimed at everyone and not just cloth nappy buyers.

Also if you use a liner how it any different to buying second hand clothes. They may have been peed on, poo'd in, bled in, ran through muddy puddles as well.
If I used a liner for underwear I wouldn't have an issue with second hand undies...
The difference is there's a much higher probably of many a strangers crap coming into contact with something that fits over a babies bum. Liners schminers..... Nothing is leak proof, especially if the wearer is crook.

    Op to answer the question:

I think second hand MCN's are the same (actually worse than) than second hand undies. I don't use MCN's, but I think they are great. I'd never use second hand undies or nappies .... Ewwww!

I bought second hand MCN for DD but wouldn't buy second hand underwear. The difference? A brand new MCN = $30+. Brand new pack of 5 pairs of undies = $10. If MCN weren't so expensive then I would have bought all new.

I agree that buying second hand mcns is like buying second hand undies.

Most of my mcn stash is second hand and I have no problems using second hand undies for my son. In fact a friend of mine offered me her son's undies last week, in good condition, and I said that as we use second hand mcns I have no problem with accepting second hand undies.

I don't think I'd buy second hand undies though.
