    Default Changing Formulas

    Hi all,

My little girl is 2 weeks old today, we had her first on karicare immunocare gold but the hospital changed her to Nan HA gold as the karicare was too foamy for her as she is a cleft palette bubby. Nan was making my bub really unsettled, she was having explosive green diarrhea and terrible tummy pains so after speaking to parent helpline and nestle we decided to change her formula to Bellamy's Organic last night and while she seems more settled on it she has been throwing up today a bit!

I am wondering if this is normal and whether her belly is just adjusting to a new formula? Her poo has changed from dark green to light green but is still runny but I expect this will take a little time to change whilst the Nan gets out of her system! She doesn't seem to be squirming as much or grunting as much whilst pooping and she was really gassy on the Nan which seems to have calmed down it is just the vomiting that has me a bit worried!

This is my first baby and since being released from intensive care due to her cleft (she is prone to choking on the milk that escapes through the hole) I am terrified of every little thing that happens

Is she over feeding? Does she have wind? Wind/colic can sometimes cause a baby to vomit. It could be the formula and that her tummy just needs a little bit more time to adjust to it. Can you ring the NICU for some advice (am assuming she was in NICU?).

Bubs can get a bit chucky with formula changes, new tummies take some time adjusting to new things! My dd was very gassy and refluxy on the nan too, constipated on s26.... fine on karicare though.

Unless it is really concerning you, give it at least a week for bub to get used to it. If it is really concerning you, especially with other issues present, talk to your GP.

Newborns stomachs are immature so any change can cause upset, but if you are worried I would see the GP.

Hrmmm I don't think she is over eating, however it could be a possibility... She is on 80mls at the moment which she was fine with on Nan but Bellamy's seems a bit thicker so maybe!

Maybe try giving her half the bottle, have a burp and then offer the rest?

I burp her every 30mls otherwise she holds on to her wind, so far the vomiting has calmed down but I'm still not 100% that she is feeling okay.

Thank you for all replies ladies I really do appreciate them

I had the same problem with belamys and NAN HA gold with my 3 week old. Ive switched to S26 and haven't had any more problems, he's like a different baby.

Just normal s26 original WineTime or gold? She seems a lot better now but I'm still not getting that happy baby vibe
