    Default Re: 2yo speech

I have a 2.5 year old nephew who only says mum and dad. What's sad is that his parents won't even consider seeing someone about it.

    Default 2yo speech

This thread has made me feel so less stressed . I really hope things just come along for my daughter at her own pace . Its hard not to be paranoid , I feel like its déjà vu all over again , yet at this age my son had NO words bar maybe one and he's development was so different its not funny . My daughter definitely appears to be developing typically but now that I have one child with ASD ill definitely be keeping a closer eye on my daughter .

Beebs I experienced the same thing . From 18 months I kept bringing up the words autism. But he was doing alot of things not "consistent" . So we waited and waited , and all the specialists and even he's old speechie were very doubtful . Then he has a MASSIVE regression . It was heartbreaking . From then on there was no doubt . But looking back even before the regression , there were still way too many signs amid the apparently " typical " behaviour .

OP - glad this has put your mind at ease abit ! It never hurts to be extra cautious though , I think its great you'll go see your GP for a chat .
