Couldn't help myself and had to post after Mark Umstad's name was mentioned. He was the ob for my DS and was fantastic. I ended up with a vaginal delivery despite a few complications during labour. I think with another ob I may have ended up with a c/s.

He is lovely and always happy to answer questions. I would absolutely use him again if we were still in Melbourne. Happy to answer any questions via pm.

oh and was very happy with Frances Perry too.

Default Seeking recommendation for low intervention ob at Frances Perry or freemason

Sorry Hun I can't remember her name. I birthed naturally but had my waters broken after 5 hrs, but all we all thought bubs was going to be very small. I found her to be quite in welcoming to be honest but I had a great birth any ways. I really wish Fiona delivered as she really is an amazing on. Happy for you to pm me if you like

Thanks so much to everyone for sharing your stories and advice. I have made progress and have narrowed it down to two obs - now struggling to decide which as they both sound great! But will do so tomorrow. Really appreciate all your assistance
    Cheers

You can still make an appointment with both and chose the ow that you feel the most comfortable with :-)

Bumping this thread to see if anyone else has any recommendations they can share here or via PM?

I'm having problems finding a 'low intervention' OB who isn't going to be on leave in January, when I'm due... David OCallaghan, Peter Jurcevic, Lionel Steinberg, Max Michael and Peter England were all on my list and all will be on holiday either when I'm due or right after.

I'm looking for an OB who's low intervention, OK with me moving around/having an active labour, who won't induce just because I'm past full term, doesn't routinely cut episiotomies etc. I have no idea what my labour or birth will be like or how I will feel during it, but that's my general hope right now.

Thanks for the rec! I had just called two more names from the list my GP gave me and both away in January... so I tried Guy Skinner and (so far) he won't be on leave in January! He sounds great so I have booked my initial appointment with him. Fingers crossed he's around when bubs arrives but even if he's not, it sounds like he's covered by some other great OBs.

I also recommend Guy Skinner - I tried to get into him the first time around and couldn't but ended up having him deliver DS2 as bub arrived early and David O'C was on leave in January anyway.

Guy is lovely - highly recommend - I was pretty happy that, if I couldn't have David, Guy was a fantastic back-up!
