Default Rash after every meal HELP

    Hi
It all started with Vegemite, Ds rashes up very bad around his mouth, but no other symptoms. Now he rashes up after every meal. I took him to the dr & he gave me cream called Cortic-Ds hydrocortisone acetate ointment, dr said Ds has sensitive skin & small amount of eczema around mouth. But is that eczema, when its caused after each meal? I'm confused
    Cream does not work
I want to just try him on a individual food for a week so I can eliminate the main cause. 1 morning he has his formula & a banana & rashed up over that, wasn't a bad rash, just small.
    (All his food is homemade)
What should I try first?? any advise please

i understand you can have a baby over the age of six months tested for allergies and sensitivites. If there is no reaction to just the formula, then stop giving solids for a while. Give some time for all the symptoms to go, and then just one new thing for two days. I also dont like the cortizone creams, and I would look for other options with an allergy specialist first. Default Re: Rash after every meal HELP

DS has severe eczema and has started to go red ubove his lip when we tried rusks. He had allergy testing and was positive to milk and eggs and milk is present in the rusks.

Is it itchy and bothering him?
Allergy testing here has a 6-12 month waiting list. Not sure where you are.
Go back to basics with food and see what has a direct affect on him. We were told to make sure its not just a once off with the food before cutting it out - this is for eczema reaction not severe allergy etc.
Also as much as I probably wouldnt use cortisone on what you described the current research on it is that it is safe to use but long term continuious use can thin the skin. Thats what we were told by the royal childrens hospital.
Goos luck and dont be afraid to go to a different gp. I had to go to 3 before any action was taken.

Default Rash after every meal HELP

Try get him tested - it could also be a salicylates allergy which is found in most fruit and veg ( like bananas )

I would also take him to see a naturopath, they can work out alternative foods/supplements once you work out what's causing the reactions

Default Rash after every meal HELP

He is nearly 10months & loves his solids. Dr wasn't to concerned as the rash doesn't bother him, he mentioned getting him tested after 1 year & Dnt give him food he reacts to.
The main foods he has been reacting to is spag bog, kiesh & purée mixed fruit which I put in *strawberries, blueberries, kiwi fruit, banana, apple & pear.
He never had a rash from apple & pear befor so must be the berries.

Default Rash after every meal HELP

My dd (17 months) started getting a rash all over her chin about 6 months ago. It also didn't seem to bother her and was definitely made worse with acidic foods (I noticed it was quite bad with Vegemite and spag bog or fresh tomatoes). Lately it has almost completely cleared. I have no idea why. Perhaps I am tending toward less acidic food but I didn't think so. Personally I wasn't too keen to use steroidal cream so just made sure I wiped her chin often, as she was eating and put some natural cream on 3 or 4 times a day. I hope it clears.

So should I stop using the cream? (Doesn't work anyway)
Do you thinks its eczema even tho the rash is only after foods he eats?

I would stop the cream. Have you ever heard of Moo Goo?
