Wink Really? A nine month election campaign?

So it's an election year. But I don't think ever in the history of Australian politics has a prime minister announced an election date of 14 September in January?

After watching Tony Abbott's new advertisements running on television, I can only think that this is becoming more and more like an attempt at a presidential like campaign.

At the risk of making this too controversial a thread, do you think a campaign this long is necessary?

Yes and totally Americanized. But that's what the media wants to do to this beautiful country of ours.

Thats exactly what I was thinking! After having to survive living with Campbell Newman's chosen electorate in Queensland, I am dreading the thought of another in your face long protracted promise fest again.

Gillard with argue though that it's not a nine month campaign. The campaign will only begin when parliament is dissolved.
