Default And we have an election date ... 14 September

It's not a national holiday like Christmas so why should anyone care? I don't stop what I'm doing on that day ever.

Ah thanks, I had wondered about that when I first heard the news.

I have to say that I truly am fearful for this country that this will be a common sentiment. I can only implore people to vote for or against the party with the best policies, and not the person at the helm at the time (as we have seen, this can change).

I will make no secret of my dislike for Tony Abbott and for the blindly conservative views that he holds.

Even though it will be really draining having to listen to this all. bloody. year, I am kind of glad we now know the date rather than all of the speculation around *when will they call it* that usually happens in an election year.

Same here. A party headed by a man who is racist, sexist and wants to legislate based on his personal faith. Not cool.

Julia may have done things we aren't happy, but she has done a lot of good. Anyone else on govt funded paid maternity leave? Just one example.

I've actually gained respect for Julia, I think she's a strong leader, doesn't take crap, gets things done, doesn't cave and tells Abbott where to shove it when she needs to.
And I think the carbon tax is good anyway which is the liberals main gripe

Re the religious Holliday just vote early. They usually have polling places set up for early votes a week or so before the election or you can post it off. DH has worked on trawlers and had to do this quite often.

This is why I dislike democracy, anyone can vote (except me! lol).

Not being impressed with the current PM is not fair cause to vote for the opposition.

Look at the policies, decide who (party wise) best represents your personal views and vote in accordance with that.
