Default No Period for 3 months but not pregnant :S

    Hello everyone,

I'm really in need of some advice or if you have been in a similar situation what was your outcome.

So I decided to take my nuva ring out on the 24th Aug 2012 to TTC baby #1. I basically thought I would fall pregnant easily as I have been pregnant twice in the past while using bc when I was very young (both were terminated, please don't judge).I got my period 2 days later after taking nuva ring out and then proceeded to get normal periods every 29days until I got to november I missed it. So I thought, yay I'm finally pregnant! Took a HPT on the day of my missed period and got a BFN So I waited another week and took another, still BFN. So I thought I had just missed a period this round. Waited for my next period in December which never came, so I took another HPT on the day of my missed period in Dec and got yet another BFN. Waited another week and still another BFN. So a few weeks later I went to my doctor. He sent me for some blood tests (tested for pregnancy, testosterone levels, progesterone levels, thyroid disease, iron levels and a full blood count). It came back that I was not pregnant and he said all of my hormone levels were perfectly normal, no poly cystic ovaries, or thyroid disease. Told me that basically sometimes this happens missing periods and to stay healthy and keep trying :S But the thing is I have no idea if I'm ovulating or when to even start testing with ovulation kits ( I don't want to spend heaps of money testing every single day).

Also recently I had a bit of a sign that ovulation might be happening. On 11th and 12th January I had lots of watery CM and then on the 13th January I had A LOT of the clear egg white CM (which I have never had over the last few months) So I figured maybe that I was ovulating. We did the baby dance on the 12th January, so I was thinking this might be it Anyway from roughly the 17th Jan until now I have had REALLY sore nipples and my boobs seem like they have lots more lumps in them. I did a HPT (which says you can test 10days after conception) today (29th Jan) and it has came back negative again!!!! So now I am back to square one, have no idea why I have no period still, sore nipples for 2 weeks now and still not pregnant. Sorry this is such a long post but I thought the more info I put down maybe the easier it would be for someone to help me out.

    Thanks Ladies x

I am not sure how the ring works, sorry, but it is very normal for cycles to take a few good months to get back in to sync again after being on BC.

Thanks for your reply HokeyPokey. The Nuva ring is exactly the same as the pill, just not ingested. I did think it might take a few months for my body to get back to normal. Just seems strange having 2 completely normal periods then nothing for 3 months :S. Is there anyway you can kickstart your cycle. Wish I just got a period so I knew when to start trying again.

You can buy cheap ovulation tests online at oracle fertility so you can test alot and work out what's going on. Failing that see another doctor, you have clearly said this is not normal for you

Thanks Allymumtobe, I just bought some so hopefully this might give me some answers as to whether I am ovulating at all.

Oops that probably come across wrong, I am still TTC but I wished my period came so I could roughly work out what days I should definitely be doing the baby dance. Makes it hard when I haven't had a period since Oct.

Are you able to see a different doctor or a specialist and get a couple of internal ultrasounds done to see if you are ovulating??

I didn't realise you could have an ultrasound to see if your ovulating. Would you have to have on at a particular time for them to see it? Not sure if a dr would refer me for one yet, they seem to think that I haven't tried for long enough after bc
