I'm not in Adelaide but I would give it a little time before writing a school off(unless something major had happened). It may have been the chaos of the first day that you felt that Dd's needs were not being taken seriously and/or going to be met. Could you arrange a meeting with the teacher or year head to discuss what will/can be done moving forward.
The first day is always stressful irrespective if any additional needs. I wish you and dd all the best and I hope all works out

The teacher rang me last week and said 'I had a message to call you' I told her my daughter was a type 1 diabetic who needs regular monitoring she basically told me its up to the office to look after her even if she is in her classroom and a catch up wasn't necessary.
When I dropped her off this morning I introduced myself and said my daughter is the one with Type 1, her reply was 'so'..
If she's not caring now, I'm concerned what happens if she has hypo's or seizures..

I really hope you're right though and it's just the chaos of first day back!

A great deal of what you wrote does not sit well with me at all particularly the response this morning. I'm flabbergasted as to how it can be the offices responsibility as all staff have a duty of care for your child. I would be calling the school and asking for a meeting with the principal ASAP as this is not really something that you want to take risks with. I'm really sorry you are going through this. Have you tried looking up schools on the Internet and contacting any to see if they could even accommodate dd? You will get a feel for a school as soon as you visit. Keep us posted.

I would be complaining to the principal. Can you move classes?

Yes I actually rang and made a complaint earlier to which they had the teacher call me but she still didn't seem interested. I am going to give it until the end of the week and if there isn't any improvement then I will take it further. No harm in the mean time checking out other schools.
