    Default BF and lump?

I had a gorgeous baby on Friday morning and am exclusively BF. This is my second bub and I have always had an excellent supply. I am obviously only on day 4 but my milk is well and truly in now. I shaved my armpits today (I try not to use deodorant while BF - I don't usually need it and don't want bub getting a mouthful of poorly applied deo, so keep the hair from getting longer than a few mm or so) And noticed a lump under my armpit near the very top of where you might expect your breast to 'stop'. Not sure if I am being paranoid... It could be a blocked duct, or a swollen gland..?. I'll see the midwife on Wednesday - I suppose what I am asking is has anyone else have anything similar and what was it?

Yes it could be a swollen gland, more often than not its something benign. My opinion is any new lump especially breast, yes axilla (under arm) is still breast tissue, should be checked out. You may need an ultrasound to check it.

by the way huge congratulations on the new addition!!

    Congrats on bubby!

I had a BIG lump under my arm pit few days after baby # 5, 5 months ago. Turns out it was a blocked milk duct.

Hi op, blocked duct was my first thought, however, in saying that I agree with the pp who said get it checked out just to be safe!!!

Thanks everyone, I thought it may be a blocked duct - but it is fairly high up.. Am making an appt today to get it checked (hasn't reduced in size - or gotten bigger - I've been massaging it while feeding and there is no redness to it) seems a little to 'round and large' to be a duct though ... be better to be safe I guess!
