As far as I know, it is 'Keen-Wah' and not 'Quinn-Noah'.

At least, i've only ever heard it pronounced like that...

The earlier posts about fil-em (film) remind me about an ad for a discount shop (Silly Sollys) from my childhood. it had a really annoying voiceover, which often included a sale on camera fil-em.

It is. It's often mispronounced though. I used to call it quin-oa, until I looked it up one day.

For some reason it the mispronunciation of quinoa always reminds me of the mispronunciation of joaquin phoenix's first name, probably because they are both impossible to work out from just looking at the word.

Not sure if this has been asked but how does everyone pronounce cumin as in the spice?
I've always said coo-min but have heard people say cue-min or does it depend where you come from?

I never thought of it, but they're virtually identical, the syllables just switched around and a silent "j" thrown in!

    I'm ridiculously excited by this

    I hate the word 'thunk', it's not a word. And Dubious has a D, not a J!
