    Ooh I was raised in WA? How does the pronunciation differ?

    I have a friend who says "ex-pecially" instead of especially. Its amazing how often I hear her say it.

    I also know someone who says "corgy-gul" instead of cordial and "tor-let
    " instead of toilet. Oh and the same person says "am-blee-ance" instead of ambulance.

    My grandma says "nevew" instead of nephew and "leeza" instead of Lisa, always makes me twitch when I hear it.

    A family member says Um-ba-rella like the Rihanna song instead of um-brella. SO annoying.

    And whilst we're at it, if you're talking about tortillas as in the Mexican flat bread it's, pronounced as though the "ll" is a y. In Mexican Spanish a double-l is pronounced as though it is a "y".
    Thanks I was sure that it is pronounced nar-chos, but so many people keep telling me that I'm wrong.

    When people say 'hypo' when they actually need to say 'hyper.' As in, "my kid was so hypo this morning." Actually, if you mean your kid was running around like crazy with excessive energy, you mean 'hyper.'

    Hyper = over, excessive
    Hypo = under, inadequate

    I haven't read all the responses so I have no idea if I'm repeating something that's already been said...
