Default Do babies self wean off formula?

Does anyone know if babies self wean from formula? Or do they just wean off the breast? DD had been taking bottles fine until yesterday evening.

Usually at 5pm she has a full bottle, then solids at 6, then a top up feed of between 30 and 100mls at bedtime.

Yesterday she only had 50mls at 5 instead of 200mls then none at bedtime.

At 7am she has a full 200mls but this morning only had 130mls. Lunchtime also usually a full 200mls, but today 30mls!!!

She ate her solids fine! Is she self weaning already!? She is 10.5 months.

Yes, mine did. The more solids he started to eat, the less formula bottles he wanted. By the time I'd swapped him to cows milk at 13 months he was only having one cup and one bottle, it was very soon after that we dropped the bottle completely with no fuss whatsoever. He's 3 now and hardly has any milk, in fact he hasn't since he was 2.

I could just be one of those phases. I seem to recall my kids doing that sort of thing every now and again, and I remember always uhhmming and ahhing over whether I could keep the feed for next time.

Our friends still give their 4 year old a bedtime bottle... I think it's a matter of each kid to his own... Lol.

No, she still doesn't like to drink water, even with a little juice added. She also hasn't upped her solids.

I'm thinking teething. I've cut out another feed, but that hasn't changed what she drinks from her other bottles. Though she slept through last night despite the smaller quantities.

Maybe it's not an issue that she's having less.

Yep I reckon DS self weaned. He started eating lots more solids which I gave him and he only has 1 bottle a day now.

Pretty sure DS weaned himself off day bottles around 10.5 months. He is a really good eater, and seemed to prefer having actual food and water than formula. He now has a sippy cup of milk with breakfast, and a sippy cup of milk with dinner.

On the flip side, DD went through a phase around 10 months of refusing bottles but also refusing food. She is my fussy eater, so it stressed me out a little with her. She got over her it after a couple of weeks!
