    Default Ear infections

DD who is 14mo, has has frequent ear infections, from about 3 months.

Week and a half ago she had one in her right ear, been to the drs last night and she has one in her left ear.

How many ear infections are too many?
Should i request to see and ENT?

She also has tonsillitis this time round.

    Default Ear infections

I just saw an ENT who said 6 ear infections a year is worth investigating but it needs to be closer to 2 years of age. We are going to wait on advice of ENT to see how my ds20 months goes over winter this year.

We were sent to an ENT after 4 ear infections in six months. The specialist was great and said if DS had anymore infections he would need grommets but thankfully he hasn't had anymore.

At 14 months my ds had grommets put in..he had had about 7 rounds of anti b's throughout that winter, just one ear infection after the other....im glad he did as his hearing / speech was ok...he had to have a second lot put in and adenoids out about 3 months ago....didnt have that many ear infections but ent checked and his ears were always 'congested' ie not infected but unable to drain....his hearing was slightly affected....ds couldnt tell us that so unless we were seeing the ent we wouldnt have known. I would go and see an ENT.

    Default Ear infections

My DD who is 2 had 4 in 3 months and I just told the GP I wanted a referal to ENT lol. Took 2 months to get in and he confirmed there was fluid behind the ear and some hearing loss. She had a slight cold when we went to this appointment so he said come back early feb to check again and if still the same we will put grommets in.

You can get them put in under 2, my friends DS got his at 10 months after lots of ear infections. Her older sons had them so she knew not to muck around I guess! Good luck, it's so awful watching them in pain :-(
