    Default Dental Issues in Pregnancy

I'm going to the dentist @ 2, but wondering if anyone has experience in the meantime (also trying to distract self from pain).

My bottom two wisdom teeth need to be taken out, but they will not do them in the chair. Before I got pregnant, they said it had to be done by an Oral Surgeon under GA.

We decided to take a couple months off TTC to get it sorted out, but of course I got my BFP that month! Unfortunate timing for tooth but over the moon of course.

Since becoming pregnant, I've had two other teeth chip quite badly (within a week of each other & it was really early on). These don't hurt.

I figured I would just get everything fixed ASAP after bubs because they won't do my wisdom without GA- can't do GA when pregnant so a bit tricky.

My wisdom teeth have been increasingly painful and as of last night unbearable. I have been alternating Panadol, panadeine, fish oil (natural anti inflammatory) and at night Tylenol PM (over the counter from the states it's basically same as Panadol with Benedryl) for the last week or so. I know long term use is not good so I am going to a different dentist today in hopes they might be brave enough to do my teeth in the chair (doubt it),

I have used warm salt water rinses and every pregnancy safe trick in the book!

I know they can't do GA when preggo but I also know infection during pregnancy is bad. I fig with this much pain it has to be infected. I know what I'm taking is safe but not in large amounts or for extended periods. Also a wee bit worried about the two chipped teeth even though they don't hurt. My nana lost all her teeth over three pregnancies!

Anyone else had a similar wisdom tooth situation where they said GA was ideal but managed to get them to go chair?

    Any insight? Gahhh! Distract me!

Not my wisdom tooth but I had a tooth removed while pg with ds2. I had an infection and needed medicine for a week first. When they removed my tooth I just had local anesthetic.

Thanks petal! I'm hoping they will do this for me. They said because where the wisdom tooth is on the nerve there is a small risk of minor nerve damage which is why they want an oral surgeon to do it under GA. At this point, I don't really care. I am more worried about bubs and pain tbh.

I hope hope hope they will just do something about it today!! I'm second tri and supposedly that's the best time to get dental stuff done if you have to during pregnancy.

Aww, my aunty still calls me petal. Makes me feel better to hear it after a so so morning

Back on topic, I feel for you. Fingers crossed they can help you today. I was second trimester as well. I imagine a wisdom tooth would require a bit more work but hopefully they can adjust a local to suit you.

    Good luck!

    Haha- yes I love "petal"

I hope so too! I just keep stressing about how the infection might hurt bubs, how anti biotics might hurt bubs, how much panadeine is too much, etc. was hoping it would settle down but no such luck so off I go!

I was worried just like you but my dentist was awesome. She reassured me that all was safe. You should be fine too.

I hope your appointment goes well

I've had 2 teeth taken out this pregnancy. My dentist is great though and he just used local and had to make a small cut to get one out. I think wisdom teeth might be different and they won't do an xray while ur pregnant so that might make it more difficult. Good luck and hope they can do something to help.

One wisdom tooth out! Woot! 👯

He wants to do a filling on one of the ones that chipped in two weeks and the other one two weeks later. Probz will wait until after bub for last wisdom tooth and a few other odds and ends...

So glad this one is out!!! Always get a second opinion!!!

They did an X-ray in the chair because I didn't have my last one with me and it was a diff dentist. They just put one of those gigantic thinks over my tummy to protect from harm to bubs.
