If you don't have a problem with the smell, I reckon it's what you make of it - if you look at it as ironic and different, it's kind of cool!

Ooh, and you can call yourself a Garbologist (someone who studies the garbage of others). And you can legitimately say "my work is a dump"!

My uncle got a job at the dump and he actually loves it! He raved on about it all the time. I know its petty but many family members made fun of it but I think that was more because he is quite a ****.
If you want the job do it - you will probably find the people there will have a good sense of humour.

If there's one thing I've learnt over the years, it's that the work environment/people I work with is far more important than the industry. I now look at jobs where the team environment match with what I want, autonomy in my work but still in a nice small team of people and a good approachable, involved boss who doesn't micro-manage. Industry plays a very small role in my decision making process. Go for it if you think the job itself sounds suitable.

I work for our local council and have worked at the landfill part of the dump, it wasn't that stinky (or maybe I got use to the smell). The transfer stations can be nasty but again I'm sure youll get use to the smell.
I love working for our council, you know that you are contributing to your local community. Plus people are ( for the foreseeable future) going to make rubbish so atleast he will always have demand for his job

It might even lead to other work, aren't dumps run by councils, so if you get the job and impress them, you might be considered for another non-dump job after a short period!
