Wow, and this is exactly why we needed a thread like That. Until you have walked a person's path, don't judge.

I formula fed my youngest from 5 days old due to a medical condition he had. Comments like these have the ability to make mothers who have gone down the formula path feel like failures and utter cr@p.

Isn't motherhood hard enough without that? Can't we have a thread where we can help ourselves feel better about something that for so many people, was beyond their control? I have to listen to people tell me that my sons health problems are my fault because he wasn't breastfed, and that formula is horrible for him. I don't see the harm in us having a thread That makes us feel good, at least just a little bit.

I don't understand why a celebrate bottle feeding section is shocking. There are many reasons for people to use bottles. And formula. For some families it is worth celebrating. Why should those who use bottles feel that they cannot "celebrate"?

Celebrating feeding you baby in the most appropriate way for mother and bub SHOULD be ok, whether it is breast or bottle. Motherhood in general should be celebrated. Neither breast nor bottle feeders should be made to feel ashamed or not accepted imo.

I have seen so many mums treated like second class citizens due to bottle feeding. Literally brought to tears. Why can't these people have a safe place to celebrate too? Why is this shocking?

I had many "professionals" telling me over and over again that breast was best, in that time though no one seemed to inform me that my massive blood loss from birth could effect my supply. I had to bottle feed and use formula too.

I felt like a failure, but what would you rather bottle feed or just not feed my bub at all, let her starve?

This "celebration" made me feel like I wasn't a bad, uncaring women, rather the opposite. Sometimes you need that.

    because I have not.

and I know at the last modcon we discussed this at some length. Bubhub is very proud to be a pro-breastfeeing forum, who does not accept advertising for formula.

They do however, have advertisements for the ABA - and have a lot of community activities and support for groups such as that (not just breastfeeding, but all kinds of non-profit organizations which help women)
So the pump companies are having a tanty (just a guess because right now I am looking at 3 medela adds) and you don't want to loose your advertisers but your morals prevent you from taking on FF companies! Tough situation to be in

I felt really sad reading that. I frankly couldn't be bothered arguing why you think it's ok to marginalise and effectively punish bottle feeders to suit your own agenda bc I'm so used to it. All I know is I feel bad for you that you feel that way. Bottle feeding can and should be celebrated without detracting from the merit of bfing. If you only got that, you wouldn't see the need to deny those that bottle feed (including EBM) the right to be proud/

Hey all, i've been informed it was only changed to try and convey that it was for bottlefeeding supporters only, and they apologise for changing it without consultation with members.

Tomorrow there will be a poll to pick a name that reflects this section best, for example, celebrate bottlefeeding, proud bottlefeeders etc.

Aren't there restrictions on the advertising of formula? I remember reading something about a law about advertising? Sorry if this is slightly off-topic but it made me think about whether BH could legally advertise anyway. (But then I'm sure I've seen Karicare advertise on TV...)

Thanks for coming back to us on this one.

I think the parameters of the thread were pretty clear in the description, and that we're all familiar with sections of the forum for different things (i.e., not to go in the anti-vax section with a pro-vax agenda, etc.)

I think most people have said they're happy with the original title, but if there's to be a poll on this and the BF thread tomorrow then people can choose what they prefer... (I mention the BF thread, as you said in the other thread that would be voted on too).
