There is lots of air in it. Ice does change density though too (I used to service the machines).

"An unusual property of ice frozen at atmospheric pressure is that the solid is approximately 8.3% less dense than liquid water. The density of ice is 0.9167 g/cm³ at 0 °C, whereas water has a density of 0.9998 g/cm³ at the same temperature. Liquid water is densest, essentially 1.00 g/cm³, at 4 °C and becomes less dense as the water molecules begin to form the hexagonal crystals[2] of ice as the freezing point is reached. This is due to hydrogen bonding dominating the intermolecular forces, which results in a packing of molecules less compact in the solid. Density of ice increases slightly with decreasing temperature and has a value of 0.9340 g/cm³ at −180 °C (93 K).[3]"

    This one too

"Most liquids have a quite simple behavior when they are cooled (at a fixed pressure): they shrink. The liquid contracts as it is cooled; because the molecules are moving slower they are less able to overcome the attractive intermolecular forces drawing them closer to each other. Then the freezing temperature is reached, and the substance solidifies, which causes it to contract some more because crystalline solids are usually tightly packed.

Water is one of the few exceptions to this behavior. When liquid water is cooled, it contracts like one would expect until a temperature of approximately 4 degrees Celsius is reached. After that, it expands slightly until it reaches the freezing point, and then when it freezes it expands by approximately 9%."

How does the hair know that it has been cut and proceed to grow and then stop at a certain length???<img src="images/smilies/laughing.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Laughing" smilieid="88" class="inlineimg" The hair on your head continues to grow all the time, from the root, but the hair on your arm stops at a certain length... until you cut the tip off, it grows again???
I'm pretty sure... All the different hairs on the body have a stopping length (maybe they sense it by weight?). So yes when hair is cut it will grow until it reaches this point.
Head hair has a stopping point too. Most people just don't ever reach it.

I think my head hair has reached it's stopping point! It won't get any longer than it is now. It's not down to my bum or anything though.

Haha you can only have beautiful hair/skin/nails and a huge belly. I guess it's natures way of making us feel pretty even though we feel like a sumo wrestler.

Apparently head hair DOES have a stopping point... it's usually approx 7 years of uninterrupted growth to get to that point though. Some people will differ, that's just something I remember learning years ago.

Alcohol doesn't make anything hurt for me, but I flush. Even just on ONE SIP (so it's not drunkeness), I will flush on my chest - the bit between my boobs and my neck will go all mottled and red. Always. Just from 1 single sip. Weird.

    Maybe you're mildly allergic?
That would suck D: ahaha. I mean I'm not a big drinker but I do enjoy a drink every so often >__> lol
