I think it is really weird as well! We have shared and everything comes out of it. Any big purchase then we'll discuss it. My GF had to go back to work earlier then she wanted as she had no money in 'her' account. I find it very strange...

Default Do you have separate bank accounts as your spouse?

I had joint accounts with my XH. I thought that's just what you did. We pretty much had that from the time we moved in together, so nearly 10 years.

Worked pretty well up until the day he redirected all his wages to an account in his name only and left me with nothing. I had to beg money to pay anything, the bills fell behind and he wouldn't give me money for groceries, I had to wait until he could come with us to pay for the food.

Never again will I have a joint account.

DP and I have been together 6yrs, and have two kids. We have joint accounts, though i have one separate one. I manage the bills.

Friends have separate accounts, which i find really odd. She doesnt work so gets no income into her account, he has to transfer money over to her account for bills ect, or she uses his keycard when he gives it to her. I find it very controlling. She literally has no money to herself unless he hands it over.
