Default Anyone else's partner less than excited about their pregnancy?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant, I found out about a week ago and told my boyfriend straight away we were having a baby (first one together, I have 2 to someone else and he has 1 to another girl). At first he was happy but shocked, talked about it a bit and seemed like he was really excited. But after a day or so of finding out, he just does not mention it, he ignores it or changes subject, when I try to talk about it, he says not right now. I don't know what else to try, I'm hoping he is better when the baby is actually here, I heard this is a normal reaction but it makes me feel bad when I'm so excited about this baby, he's the only one who knows besides me, I feel so alone having no one to talk to about it was anyone else's partner like this at first? What was the outcome?

Could he just be feeling a bit cautious because Its early? Ive heard a lot of partners find it hard to connect with a pregnancy early on before any ultrasounds and hearing bubbas heartbeat. Im sure once it has all sunk in and he gets to see and hear bubba he will be different

I agree with purple Lilly. For bloke its still so early and still very abstract. Maybe he just needs time and things like ultrasound and a belly bump to make it more tangible.

I sort of know who you feel though. I'm 12 weeks and DP was doing his class plan this week and working out when he would have his class camp and I had remind him that we have a baby due and he might have to re-think the date.

My partner is still getting his head around it and he's known for a month. The morning sickness has made it real but he told me himself until he hears the heartbeat it's just not real.

I had a very challenging pregnancy with a husband that was adamant he didn't want to be a father, but mostly I think men just take a while. If your bf doesn't come around, feel free to pm me any time.

My DH is a bit like this. First time it upset me, second one not so much, third I'm not worried at all as I know once bubs is born he will be as exited as I am. It a guy thing.
