Oh, nipple shields - I think I have some somewhere!! I put them away because DS wouldn't feed with them, but maybe I can change his mind...thanks!

Coconut oil! It's a natural anti fungal, and this could be breast thrush. Is there anything to see in the nipple? A bleb is a small white dot where a duct is blocked, and it can be very painful. Is the lumpiness gone?

Well nipple shields were a fail - DS screamed and wouldn't attach until I got rid of it so we are battling through. Still really sore and can feel a couple of lumps/ridges I think. I can't see any white spots on the nipple though. I am going to try a hot shower and electric toothbrush soon.

I found that once I massaged it out in the shower and feeding DS in the football hold so his chin was where the lumps were I was quite sore for a day or two from the rubbing. I did the heat before and during feeds and then ice after it to take some inflammation out.

Massage the lump with a toothbrush whilst in the shower.. Don't scrub, just gently massage.

Good luck hope it goes away

Still sore and lumpy unfortunately. I did develop a white spot on the nipple today so I gently used a sterilized needle to take the top off this afternoon. DS has fed once from that side since then and I am now heating/expressing. Plan on a hot shower with toothbrush after this and then hopefully a good night sleep.

Has anyone tried ultrasound to help with blocked ducts? My physio mentioned it tonight when I was there for an unrelated appt.

Definitely the hot shower and try to massage the lumps out while your under the shower, I spent ages doing that, start up under your armpit and just keep working it out, especially if you've got the little white lump out of your nipple it might move it out. Are you able to pump any off that side to just try and ease some off without bubs attaching? I sometimes found the pain of expressing with the manual pump not quite as bad as bubs was.

If you can get someone to go out for you, the rite-aid gel discs were awesome for helping sore nipples (I know that's not quite the problem but the cool sensation I found very relieving.

Good luck, you are going great for hanging in there.

Another idea on the white spot is using some face scrub on it to help open it up gently.
Hang in there you are doing an awesome job persisting
Face scrub......owwww! Not sure if I can deal with the pain of that. Will keep it up my sleeve for tomorrow though.

Expressing is definitely less painful (though still very sore) - I am already dreading DS waking up for his next feed. Will look into the gel discs tomorrow.

I just want this to be over and the pain gone so I can go back to enjoying feeding
