I had low lying placenta with bleeding throughout pregnancy. Fortunately mine moved just enough for a vaginal delivery, but not enough to be late due to possibilities of placental delivery first as I was still bleeding late into pregnancy. Had my son induced 3 days before his due date, to be safe as cervix was viable and placenta had shifted and it was the breeziest delivery (as my daughter, first born, with no such complications during pregnancy, was most definitely not!)
My sister had very similar issues and her placenta shifted even more than mine and she went over her due date (allowed to) with no issues at all.

I was told today at scan (38 weeks 2days) that my placenta is "2.3"

What does that mean? Sonography just said the dr will get a report and I won't even see him til after the New Years public holiday I guess

The distance from cervix? If so, all good - mine had to be 1.5 or 2 I think to attempt vaginal delivery.

Mine was low lying at at our 20week scan, 0.5cm too close to be considered 'safe'. By the 32week check it had moved over 6 cm's away so i was all clear for a vbac and had no hint of any troubles at all during the actual labour
