My bolognaise sauce recipe.
500g mince (I use turkey but use whatever)
1 onion, finely chopped
1-2 sticks of celery, finely chopped
1 carrot, grated
1 zucchini, grated
2 tbs tomato paste
2 tins chopped tomatoes
Salt and pepper
Fry onion and celery in small amount of olive oil until soft. Add tsp minced garlic and cook for another minute. Add mince and cook til brown and into small lumps. Add tomatoes, carrot, zucchini, tomato paste, approx 1/3 cup of water and bay leaf. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for up to 2 hours, with the lid on for the first hour or so, lid off after until reduced to the reduced thickness. Remove bay leaf and serve.
I served mine with polenta fingers last night. Was lovely. DD 23 months loved it!
Mil introduced this one to me it's a little sweet and strong in flavour but yummy.
1 tin tomato soup
1 tin crushed tomatoes
Onion, carrot (plus what ever else you'd like. I love adding eggplant)
3-5 tblsp soy & Worcestershire sauce
It needs to simmer for up to 2 hours otherwise its quite runny. It also tastes even better with 50/50 beef/pork mince
