Default Flying with a 5 month old.... Booking tickets

    Hey guys,

So still cooking my little one but we are heading to Fiji for a wedding in June and want to book flights. But we don't have a name or a birthdate yet, so how do you book a ticket?

Anyone been through this or have any suggestions?

    TIA

Not sure that you can. The ticket needs to match the passport exactly.

Talk to your travel agent... You may have to make it a flexible fate or pay extra to change the name/ dob. Well you nee able to get a passport in time?

Call the airline and ask what to do. As babies are carried they are often free or low cost so one would assume you can add later after the birth?

I don't think you can either, definitely not without a name as pp said, passport got to match.
If I were you I would book the adult tickets so you get the flights you want, and notify the airline that you will be adding an infant. It's not like they get a seat allocated so it might be ok to add them later.

Make sure you do the passport application asap, and be well prepared for the photo regulations...even with infants they have to be looking at camera with eyes open, mouth closed and on standard plain background i.e. you can't be holding them. Can take a few goes to get one that meets the requirements

How long is the flight to Fiji? Ask for a bassinet on the plane if they are available too

All good, we book for us then add bubs later... Flight is just under 4 hours from syd, and bassinet to be booked once we have a baby.

Did you know if you book a ticket over the phone with qantas you pay a $60 booking fee PER adult... Ridiculous... Booking online

    Thanks again, enjoy your evenings
