I found it to be a right pain! Some places like the bank needed a signed verified copy to be mailed in etc etc.. It was time consuming and annoying... Maybe the fact I was 7 months pregnant didn't help me

Really? My bank were happy to see a photocopy of the marriage cert and changed it in the system.

We got married overseas, so I had to change my name via deedpoll to get my licence changed. Now that was a pain in the bum! If only they'd been happy with the certified copy...

Don't forget to change your name on bills/charities etc too, I keep getting things come in my maiden name but it's a lot of stuffing around so I haven't gotten around to it yet haha!
The first place I would physically go is your transport dept to change your license. I know someone else mentioned it but don't forget medicare, I forgot then had to go to the doctors for a blood test and it was a whole lot of stuffing around!
And as pp's said I would try and do the bulk of it in one day then send away all the ones you can't do in person!

My advice would just be careful if you have any flights booked.

I travel every week or two for work (and fun). I had some flights which had been booked in advance in my maiden name, had already changed my passport to married name for international flights, went to transport to change my licence and they take your old licence off you on the spot and give you a printed 'interim licence' without a photo until your new one comes in the post.

So I had a few weeks with no photo ID in my maiden name and planes to catch. Freakin nightmare!
