    Default Change to married name

Any advise? I am about to change over to my new married name. I'm assuming it's not going to be that easy. Any tips?

Ummmmm… take your marriage certificate with you and they'll change it.

    Pretty easy :-)

I found it quite easy. Once had my marriage certificate I went to transport dept. To change my licence, then my bank, then Medicare, etc. I set aside a day to do it all at once

Do everything in one big blitz! It's harder (I thought) having some things in one name and some things in another name. If you do a google search there are lists you can use to make a list of everything you need to change too.

I'm assuming you've registered your marriage with BD&M and they have given you a certificate.

You can't use the one from your actual wedding day.

Other than that it is pretty easy. You just have to do it individually for each place. As in transport dept, bank, Medicare etc.

One tip though - make sure you practice your new signature!

You need your 'official' marriage certificate from BDM, not the ceremonial one you get at your wedding. Just a heads up!

It's easy, just show your official marriage certificate (the boring looking one that looks like a birth cert).

I changed my name when I got married but decided to change it back to my maiden name about a year later - now *that* was a nightmare!

Many places required a signed copy posted when I did mine a couple of years ago. I photocopied certificate a few times and had them signed by Justice of the Peace so I could send these to whoever needed them. I think I used about 5.

Get about 10 copies certified cos you will need to post a few off.
Also get your passport done in the first (?) 6 months and it won't cost you anything.
