    Hi
I am a teacher so I work with Educational Assistants. It's a great job that fits in well with having a family. If you love children and can work well with others, then you'll be well suited. There are different roles an EA can do e.g. here in wa a Level 3 EA can work one on one along side a particular child in a main****** setting or support a educational support classroom/teacher. You can also be a classroom EA such as the ladies I work with in my Pre-primary class (5-6 year olds). In WA this role is paid less than the Level 3 EA, but not by much.
Their role is to support the learning program, take small groups for learning activities, prep for activities, assist with classroom organisation etc. Depending on the teacher you work with, there will always be a need to get your hands dirty and sometimes perform the less desirable duties e.g. cleaning up accidents etc. I try to make sure my EA doesn't do all the yukky jobs, yet there are times I can't as I am with the class.
I know lots of ladies who have gone through TAFE, private colleges and over here one uni runs a course on the weekends. You could also volunteer and see if you like it and then do the course. I have had some EAs do this in my room. You need a working with chn check though.
    Good luck!!!!

Thank you so much for the reply, it really helped my question a lot. Do you know is there a demand for EA?
