Default Private or public opinions- townsville

    Hi
I went private for first bub and whilst all went ok it was expensive. 6 weeks along with bub 2, 2nd time around I am weighing my options as to whether we should go private again or is public a viable option. Looking for opinions from townsville mums as to what you experienced, was it good/bad, why? If you went private who did/are you going through? (disliked my last ob so looking for a new one).
    Thanks, appreciate you opinion

I did the last 2 bubs publicly and they were great. Be prepared for long waits for appointments but were fantastic. Think about the W O M B A T TEAM too. I have heard great things about them too.

The wombat team is amazing! The birth suite and midwives amazing!!!! You do tend to wait a bit for appointments most times. The maternity ward, like most public hospitals, you share a room. I birthed my daughter there 3yrs ago and it was just AMAZING!!!!

My last birth was problem free so I guess birth centre is an option. Sorry for sounding dumb but what is the wombat team?

    2. Wombatt Team Midwives
The Wombatt team is a group of 10 midwives who provide care for healthy women who have had no complications during pregnancy. The midwives work in clinics, birth suite, maternity, parent education classes and the home-visiting service. You will meet the midwives during your antenatal visits and you are likely to have met the midwife who will care for you in birth suite. A member of the same team will look after you in the maternity ward and visit you at your home.

I had ds with dr Chang. I have had my daughter since in Brisbane mater mothers and this bub i am going to Mackay mater mothers. Of all my experience the Townsville mater mothers were nothing short of awesome. I honestly don't know how other ob's are in Townsville but I did have one before dr Chang (can't remember his name but he was awful) I found Chang to be professional but didn't have the feeling of being any bit personal unlike my other ob's I've had elsewhere.

A friend had a bub in Townsville public last week and they really gave her the run around. She birthed normally etc no probs but they weren't interested in her thoughts, feelings or anything else. Really stuffed her around by changing her appointments etc far to often.
