What kind of exercise are people doing during pregnancy?

I've had to ditch most of my pre-pregnancy sport (hockey etc) due to contact sport risks, not to mention I could never run through 90 minutes of hockey right now!

I'm looking for inspiration and some new ideas....anything but yoga which is really not my thing!

Swimming, I love to swim and have taken it up again since I got pg. Nice at the end too when you're feeling heavy.

Also just walking which is great for you and it's free

You can also find a bunch of pregnancy workout dvds etc, probably downloadable online as well.

Body pump, or any of the Les Mills classes, you should be able to get a casual pass at your local gym if you aren't a member, all les mills classes can be tailored for pregnancy, injury etc.

I ran up to 5km a few times a week and did light weight work until 34 weeks all with the support of my OB.

Made for a great recovery after delivery too

Definitely swimming! I had to stop running due to pelvic pain but swam all the way up to 40 weeks. If you don't have any pelvic problems I would definitely do some prenatal yoga as well- lots of hip and pelvic opening poses and squats that are really useful for an active birth.

Water aerobics is meant to be good. I'm starting next week after I buy new maternity bathers

Thanks for all your ideas. My gym runs Les Mills classes and has a lap pool. I think I was too nervous to do the classes as I can get my heart rate over 150bpm in a good class (or even up to 170 if doing hardcore spon) but read somewhere to keep it under 130 during pregnancy?
Duh, I guess you just do the class at a lower intensity than normal? Not sure why I am so nervous about it?!

I love the les mills classes and am hoping to get back to step and combat this week.

My resting hb is usually between 90 and 100, so I usually skip the high intensity songs - scheduled bathroom break

My gym also has a pool so I'm thinking about doing a few laps after class to help cool down.

I never recorded my heartbeat, I did spin, attack, combat, pump and balance until spd set in around 30 weeks or so. My Ob said just go to your limit, not over it.
