Default Student Midwife seeking women in Brisbane!

    Hello

My name is Savannah Fry. I am a third year Nursing/Midwifery Student at the University of Queensland practising at the RBWH. As part of our training we are to follow 10 generous women throughout out their pregnancy, birth and post natal period.

As a student, my role would be to provide a continuity of care and support as well as having a familiar face throughout your pregnancy.

This program is completely voluntary and you are free to withdraw at any time.

If you are interested or have any questions please contact me at:

Hi! Are you only looking for women who will be going to RBWH?

    Hi Candiceo,

The RBWH is my home hospital but we are welcomed to follow through women who are receiving care through any hospital in the Brisbane area.

    Thanks
    Savannah

Hi Savannah I'm interested but would like some more info as well including if we will need to do a lot of travelling to see you etc? I work full time in cbd, have a toddler and our family only have the one car. Please let me know what sort of commitment and time you need? I dont want to take up your time if I can't meet the times that you need etc

    Hello peanutmonkey,

In this program the student midwife would accompany you to five of your antenatal appointments, offer you support during labour and birth and visit you at least twice during the postnatal period. Your commitment is completely voluntary and you are free to withdraw from the program at any time.

I hope this answered your question and if you have any other question please contact me.
    Thanks Savannah

    Hi Candiceo,

This programs involves a student accompanying you to five antenatal appointments, which can be anything from a doctors appointment to an ultrasound and everything in between. Then we also offer support during labour and birth and come visit you at least twice during the postnatal period.

In terms of travel, I would actually meet you at all of your appointments at the clinic or hospital so you don't have to travel to see me, I come to you .

Hope this answered your question, please don't be afraid to contact me.
    Thanks Savannah

I'm currently very early on in my second pregnancy (5+2), but am interested, Savannah.

I had a student midwife with me during the whole of my labour with my son, and I found it incredibly supportive and helpful.

I will be giving birth (all going well in the coming weeks!) at Redcliffe Hospital and am more than happy for you to contact me. I can PM you my email details if you like.
