Default Best Public hospital in Melbourne?

Hi, I have recently moved to Melbourne and also just found out that I am pregnant! (4 weeks). I am planning to enrol in the shared care program within the public hospitals. I am wondering what are the best public hospitals for maternity care in Melbourne? I am living in South Yarra. Thank you x

I was living in South Yarra when both my kids were born and we were in the zone for the Royal Women's for DS. I think the zones changed though because by the time DD was born I had to go to Monash Clayton so that's where she was born.

I'm in Heidelberg and went to Mercy which was fab and has a good reputation. Haven't been to any others so I'm afraid I can't comment. You may have to fall within the catchment area of the hospital depending on your pregnancy.

The only down side of South Yarra is that there are no public high schools, but I can recommend good kindergartens and primary schools if you need them

I'm in Prahran so you're closer to the Women's than me and I was in the catchment. But if they book up then you might have to go elsewhere so see a GP and get a referral ASAP!
