Default BRISBANE: Private room in a public hospital

I have PHI and am wondering if it is possible to go through the public system, but pay (via my private health insurance) for a private room?

I have heard that Redlands Public offer single rooms also? I would hate to pay for the private room and end up sharing. I have had bad experiences sharing rooms in the past and unsure if this is an option...

    Redlands or Logan maybe?

I don't like your chances of getting a single room at Logan... I personally wouldn't birth there ever again but have heard good things about Redlands.

I used to be a midwifery student at Redlands. They mostly have single rooms with a shared two way bathroom.

My GP phoned the Redlands today and they said it is very unlikely I can go there as I am out of catchment. This bugs me as DF is there today birthday (out of zone) and I have had 2 others go there also. Is it all of a sudden to busy?? I am thinking of using a friends address to go there??

I really don't like sharing a bathroom, yes Redlands gives you a private bedroom, but image if you really need to go and someone else is in the bathroom ( or your bathroom buddy doesn't clean up after herself )
