Default Self employed / working from home

I was just wondering how many Hubbers work from home or run your own business from home, what you do (ie, what industry/job) and how you got into it?

I really love to work from home and run my own business but I have no idea how to start or what industry to get into!

Googling "working from home" brings up all those websites where they tell you how great it is, but you must have a phone interview before they tell you anything about the product - blergh!

    Thanks in advance

I don't at the moment, but I'm a qualified PT so once bub is born I will get set up to run my own business. It's not exactly all from home but all the planning etc I can do from home

Is there anything you enjoy doing particularly?

That's a great idea! I don't have any concrete hobbies or anything like that. I have a few general interests but nothing I foresee myself profiting from. I've gone onto pages like Open Colleges and gone through the lists of courses they offer - I got some ideas from there, but if they require nationally recognised qualifications then I'd really want to be sure that's what I wanted to do before financially committing to it. Wish I had a crystal ball

Yep I work for home. I do contract work for another business through my DF's business. I am a town planner. Soon, I'll probably be doing more work for DF's business also. He has just started out so we'll see how it goes

ETA: The work I am currently doing I picked up through LinkedIn.

That's good to know Heids! I also wondered if LinkedIn actually worked.

I sell black baby clothes with designs I print on them in bright colours that the customer chooses. It's quite customized and I do it all by hand. I have a Webstore :-)
Still trying to get the word out tho so I'm using eBay for some of the popular stuff but only make a few dollars due to eBay and PayPal fees.
I like making the clothes and that's mainly why I do it.

    Thanks for the extra responses

Luvmydogs, I've thought about getting into personalised kids clothes but I know several people who already do it so I suspect it could be very popular and therefore have the potential to not make much profit? (Not hating on your idea at all!! Good luck to you!)
