    Default Devastated :(

Hi sorry this is a self indulgent post. I just found out Someone at my work has had a little girl & has named her the same name (first & middle!!) as we were going to call our baby if its a girl. I have no idea why I'm so upset, I just am. Ive loved it for ages, it was almost going to be my dd's name but we changed our mind at the last minute. It 'flows' nicely with our kids names, we were all set.
I'm really happy for my co worker, she's lovely and this is their first baby. The baby too is just gorgeous. My co worker had no idea we had chosen that name, it's not her fault.
    Can't help but feel. Devastated.

Do you see her outside of work? If not I don't see a problem in using the name. I would chat to her about it and explain exactly what you have written here. I'm sure she would just be flattered, she obviously loves the name too.

I know exactly how you feel. Sil and I are due days apart, and stupidly we told them our names we had chosen. A few weeks later, they found out they were having a boy, and we couldn't see at the ultrasound. They decides this meant they could take the boys name we chose. They were really nasty about it too. We've since found out were also having a boy, and while still really upset about it, we found another name that we love.
You could always still use the name you like, as unless you are good friends outside work , you won't often see her baby.
Or if you're really set on not using it now, I'm sure you will find another name that you will fall in love with. If you wanted to share the name, I'm sure some ladies on here will be able to he'll with some other similar and just as nice names.

Thanks so much colbie. No I don't see her outside of work, I'm just worried what my other co workers would think. It's just uncanny, both first and middle name!! I was really seton both as dd's middle name is lily and the middle name we had chosen was rose. I feel like crying, which is really silly!

I wouldn't worry about it if you don't see her outside work. My neice's name and our dd's name rhymes horrendously, it actually sounds funny when you call them, but I don't care, we love that name and refused to change it.

Thank you nikki, I'm so sorry it's happened to you too! ESP how it happened. The name is/was Mila Rose.

If I was you I would absolutely still use the name. And if anyone said anything smart about it, I would say I've had the name chosen long before I found out about anyone else's child and to add to that who cares, we love it.

I think if you love a name you should have it regardless of whose got it. Why should you settle for second best.

Thank you minchi. Dh doesn't see a problem using at least the same first name, but he's not the one having to face everyone at work!

You can't 'call' a name or claim it as your own. If you love it then still use it :-)

I would just use the name since you don't see her outside of work.
