Default Thrush on baby's tongue... Help with treatment!

My 8 week old has thrush in her tongue, and I have it on my nipple. Everyone seems to be saying that Nilstat is rubbish in treating baby's thrush, and the common alternative, Daktarin oral gel, is so much better. BUT the medication leaflet says it is not recommended for babies under 6 months. Now I know this is only because of the slight risk of choking on the gel if it is not administered correctly, but I am still hesitant to try it. My baby hates the Nilstat and it is a nightmare to administer! Does anyone have experience in giving Daktarin gel to their LO's under 6 months? Any tips on how best to safely give it to her?

I was given it by my Dr for DS1 at about 4wks old and to DS2 at about 9wks. See your dr and they should prescribe it for you, or have other ideas. I would put some on your nipples after a feed to see if that helps at all.

Default Thrush on baby's tongue... Help with treatment!

If you go pharmacy and they won't give it to you because bub is to young, send someone else to get it.
I sent my mum to get it and say my lo was 9months.

My chn said They don't like to give it to babies under 6mo, because they can choke... So what we did to make sure she didn't choke was measure it out, and put it on my finger (cleaned of course) and rub it in her mouth til it "dissolves". Hope that makes sense!

I had the same issue with my son and it is hard to get rid of it, I found it best to use nipple shields with the nilstat drops. That way you can treat bubs and yourself separately and reduce the chance of re infecting each other

Thanks ladies! Perthmumm... How long did it take for the gel to dissolve? And did you have to hold your baby upright till it dissolved?
Anyone else have any experiences with the gel?
