I know of a girl named Pony (it is not a nickname either, its her official name). I think that's cruel. I always wondered if her Mum wanted a pony as a child and wasn't allowed, so she went out and got herself one when she was a grown up.

    Cruel? Nah.
    Child abuse/neglect is cruel.

The only time I have ever thought a name was in poor form/taste, was when the out and proud couple from S.A who were a Father and daughter in an incestuous relationship named their daughter 'Celeste'.

In isolation Celeste is a lovely french name, but not when your name so closely sounds like incest.

I'm sure that poor girl will cop "ride my pony" song as she gets older

My parents gave me an unusual name....I loathe it. I am always amazed at the number of people who ask me if I'm named after suri cruise (my name is one letter different). Really, you're asking a woman in her mid thirties if she is named after an 8 year old(or however old suri is)??? Clearly basic arithmetic is not being taught in our schools

I've got a friend named Tinkerbell, but she is older so it isn't a "fashionable" type name for her, there is a history to it.

I personally am not a fan of made up spelling names, Shaneequa and all that kind of stuff. Not sure if I think it is cruel though? Maybe just a bit silly.

Someone told me recently if I named a daughter Eilidh (Gaelic name) it would be "cruel". Lol. Only in Australia!
