    Default Are unusual names cruel?

To be fair, the parents of Drew Peacock did change his name by deed poll once they realised...

My father was telling me about a child he knew when he was a child. The parents had been very careful not to choose a name that could be shortened to something they didn't like. They eventually settled on Percival because they didn't mind Percy. The problem was that his surname was Nut and he was forever known as P.Nut (peanut).

Someone get this girl a copy of The Iliad!

Ajax was incredibly strong, which I assume is why the cleaner chose the name. Much like calling it "Hercules", but a bit snappier

    My ds name is Nikolas.
Most people spell it Nicholas but while I was pregnant I was watching a show and one of the guys names was Nikolas and I loved the way it was spelt.
It is annoying having to spell it all the time but I like it :-)

As for weird names like tinkerbell... think I'd never forgive my parents if they called me that!!

Yes but the two names together to me sounds odd

I like Lotus-Moon (well maybe not with the hyphen). I'm not a hippie, but seem to be strangely drawn to some of these sorts of names... e.g. Rain, River, Star, Willow, Magnolia... I'd never be allowed to use any of them though! (maybe Willow) I'm also banned from using names from fantasy novels... so annoying!

I'm not keen on lotus moon but I can see why some people might be. DP would never agree to any names like that.
