    Default Weight chart

Just found it interesting that my lactation consultant who is also a child health nurse still utilises the standard weight chart instead of the bf weight chart. Anyone else notice this?

Is there a bf chart? I didn't know that existed.

    Default Weight chart

There's a link to the WHO weight charts in one of the sticky topics in this section. Titled growth charts for breastfed babies (or something like that). Really interesting to see the differences (and a relief to see my breastfed baby was doing ok after a less than positive MCHN checkup).

Yes- they can be found here

With an explanation of why they are needed here

3.5 years ago when my boys were infants they were measured against the standard charts (so, not bf ones) and I was told by one MCHN that they were not gaining enough weight. At the next visit we saw a different MCHN (same centre) who commended me on bf'ing twins at 6 months, that I was doing an excellent job and that they were happy, healthy and growing beautifully.

It's amazing what one piece of information can do to peoples perceptions

Thanks for the links Nomsie. I wonder if it is personal choice by the chn or a directive from the health department?
