Default Unimpressed with lack of customer service at Kmart

Yesterday I went to Kmart to buy a new microwave, and struggled to lower it into the trolley. At the checkout, I pointed out my bandaged wrist and asked if someone could help me get it into the car.

I was most shocked when the lady informed me that they didn't have anyone that could do that.

There may well be policies in place, not to make life difficult for you, but to protect their workers.

I'd say they aren't allowed to because they wouldn't be covered by insurance if they injured themselves in doing so.

same treatment at the ER at the local hospital. I was there as a patient, the dr asked the lady with two bad legs next to me to get into a wheelchair but he couldn't physically help her himself. I had to do it even though I was incredibly sick myself :/ just a legal thing to cover themselves.

Don't they have a loading dock out back? They should/would for the bigger things like furniture and tv/s. Perhaps she just didn't think to mention this?

I honestly can't believe you expected one of the workers to help you take it too the car. I know..back in the old days and all that was part of customer service but not now.

I don't know...when I worked at Big w and Woolies we would offer to do that if someone needed it. That was 10 years ago now though.

I wouldn't have expected it. It's not the USA after all!

I would not expect this at places like Target or Kmart. If I was buying from a bigger electrical store then yes, I think it should be part of the service.

I bought a new microwave and Doona and quilt cover set from Harvey Norman before Xmas - not only did he offer to walk it out to the car ( DH was with me and he did it!) but when I got home I realized the lady at the bedding department gave me a queen not king quilt cover I called and told her and she asked where I lived and one of the staff who lived on the next suburb came to my house on the way home and swapped it for me! I was very impressed
