Change doctor then! That's ridiculous!! My baby alone weighed 3.25 kg's! Along with placenta and fluid, I had 12kgs of it which is now pretty much gone. 3kg gain is completely unrealistic!!

My doctor wants me to minimize weight gain. So far at nearly 24weeks I have put on about 2kg. I did lose close to 10kg early on due to morning sickness. If I can keep my weight gain under that 10kg at term I will be happy but I certainly haven't been denying myself anything (except the obvious no nos) just don't eat as much of them. I am on the heavy side too with a high BMI.

I think under 3kg is completely unreasonable. I would be seriously telling your doctor where to go

Yeah I understand some docs saying that some ladies might need to keep their gain to as small as possible - but it's hard when you don't know how much fluid you will retain etc!

Putting an actual number on it though - like 3kg - how is that possible.
With the fluid, the placenta, the b00b growth and of course the baby!
Sounds tough and certainly not fair to have you stressing about it!
Pregnancy can be stressful enough as it is!

My sister was obese before her last pregnancy and she only put on 2kg and that was in the third tri.
I'm not saying it was easy, she saw a dietician every week during the whole preg, but it was the healthiest recommendation for her.

As tough as it sounds, doctors don't say these things to be a pain, they say them for medical reasons (they don't personally care how fat, thin or otherwise you are, it's their job it make medical recommendations)
