We follow this tradition but the 6th not the 5th.. which also coincides with my b'day

My Granny is English and so I think that's why Dad always did it the same (unless he was really busy). We didn't do it for the luck just because it was how we always did it.

DP took ours down on the 3rd or 4th and DS and I were both sad because we love Christmas.

I took mine down the other day... I think Sunday maybe. DP whinged at me, telling me it needed to be down before New Years but meh... I don't believe his superstitious crap. If he wanted it down, he could have done it himself. :P

Took ours down day after Boxing Day. Kids would have trashed it otherwise!

Took ours down on New Year's Day, wanted it down before the 6th jan mind you all the cleaning and sweeping we did on New Year's Day will bring us a year of bad luck anyway apparently! We went to bed at 9.30pm on NYE and were up vacuuming at 7am, bet our neighbours (townhouse) loved us!!

Catholics celebrate the Christmas season right up until this week (when we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus) so you are totally justified in still having it up. Just tell yourself it is technically still Christmas to some people
