Default Does your child prefer older kids?

Just wondering if your child prefers older kids, or if they're not tolerant of children closer to their own age?

My 2.5yo prefers kids aged 2.5-3 ish or physically bigger kids than her.

I find she bullies smaller kids

Not my own child, but my niece who is 9, can't deal with kids aged 4-8. She's fine with kids her own age and older and is absolutely wonderful with babies but that age group just doesn't gel with her. She's very bossy though so kids around the 4-8 age group don't take to be being told what to do by her very well.

My dd who is 2 enjoys playing more with children aged 4-6.
I think that's just because the 4-6 year old shower her with attention

The 4-6 year olds are family, for friends she makes on her own at the park and play centers.
She doesn't show much interest in children her age, she isn't one to approach other children and I have found the order ones just approach her and whisk her away to play.

My 2.5 year old DD loves older kids. I think it's because they treat her like a little doll and find her so fun, she loves the attention!

DD absolutely idolises her two cousins, one is 9 months older, the other is four years older. That said, she gets along with younger kids too, particularly if they are live-wires like her. Basically she is usually so desperate for the company of other kids she'll take what she can get!

I think children are biologically wired to seek out older kids because they can learn new skills etc from them. Whereas children the exact age or lower may be limited in new things they can show you
My toddler has no interest in her age or lower, but will literally follow around any kid 3-4+ up to teenage

Yes ds prefers to play with kids much older then him. He is 4 and all his friends are 6,9,11,15 etc. he doesn't click with kids as well that are his own age. He is a pretty grown up 4 year old though.

Dd is 2.5 and plays with kids around her brothers age or older not really tolerating kids her own age even her close cousins.

26 month old DS loves older kids but that may also be because my 8 year old niece lived with us for a year!
He's not fond of his 16 month old cousin as she can't really play with him yet and just steals his toys!

DS likes playing with older kids but also likes to help feed the babies...

He plays more alongside rather than with kids though as he's only 2.

He likes mummy the best though and if I'm around I get preferred treatment over other kids
